Dr. Maricruz Ramos 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Ramos is both a Foundation Board Member and a past recipient of the Melanie E. Rawlins Research Grant from the Foundation.  As a grantee she was compelled to join the Board to her to share her interest in helping others learn and benefit from the Foundation's Grants.  Dr. Ramos is a counselor/ faculty at College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL. 

 

Prior to joining CLC, she served as a Bilingual Family therapist at a Safe Place, a multi-faceted agency assisting survivors of domestic violence. She has also served as Director of the MA in Counseling- CMHC program at Adler University. Prior to becoming director, she was a core faculty in the same program and taught courses in Multicultural Counseling, Career Counseling, Practicum & Internship, & Counseling Ethics.


Before joining Adler, Dr. Ramos taught in the Counselor Education Department at Argosy University, Chicago. She was also Director of Career Services & Alumni Relations Department at the same institution.  She currently serves as the current Treasurer of the Chicago Counseling Association (an ICA chapter) and also has served as its President from 2000-2001. She is Past President of the Illinois Association for Multicultural Counseling (IAMC) and a 2005 recipient of that organization’s Outstanding Leadership Award. She holds active membership in the American Counseling Association, the National Career Development Association, and Illinois Counseling Association among numerous other professional and community organizations. 


 Dr. Ramos received her doctoral degree in Counselor Education & Supervision (EdD) at a CACREP accredited program at Northern Illinois University (NIU). She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois, is certified as a Distance Credentialed Counselor (DCC) and, a National Certified Counselor (NBCC).
